
Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education (BAPE):
The focus is Teacher Education with Certification in Health and Fitness.
Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (BSPE):
Four concentrations exist in Exercise Science, Health and Fitness Management,
Pre-Physical Therapy, and Pre-Athletic Training.
All the undergraduate programs combine a strong foundation of knowledge in the science areas, together with an appropriate integration of practical learning experiences. Each program provides students with the appropriate background with which to pursue careers in teaching and coaching, allied health sciences from both the prevention, rehabilitation and clinical perspectives. The BSPE concentrations provide educational opportunities that are strong in their integration of theory and practice.
The exercise science concentration provides students with the necessary education with which to pursue graduate school in areas associated with the field as well as to be successful in obtaining initial certifications with organizations such as ACSM and the NSCA.
The health and fitness promotion concentration provides the education necessary to pursue either graduate school or professional opportunities in the field of health and fitness promotion in various community settings, especially corporate worksites.
The pre-physical therapy concentration provides students with the necessary background with which to be able to apply to graduate programs in physical therapy that also result in an initial credential as a registered physical therapist.
The pre-athletic training concentration provides course work that helps prepare students who are interested in applying to graduate programs in athletic training that also help them obtain a NATA certification.
