Marymount University Programs in the Health Sciences

Marymount University's undergraduate programs in the Health Sciences (B.S.,B.S./M.S.) respond to the growing national interest in prevention of diseases through achievement of optimal health and physical fitness. Choose from two emphasis areas: Health Promotion and Pre-Physical Therapy.

Key elements of the Health Sciences curriculum include health education, kinesiology, disease prevention, fitness assessment, development of exercise programs, prevention and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries, fitness and sports administration, nutrition, alternative therapies, and techniques of promoting lifestyle changes.  Upon completion, graduates are qualified to apply for health fitness instructor certification by the American College of Sprots Medicine.  

Marymount also offers a graduate program in Health Promotion Management (M.S.). It too responds to the need for skilled health educators and health promotion specialists. The curriculum includes learning to develop programs in behavior change, fitness assessment, and stress management. Graduates of the program are prepared to sit for th Certified Public Health Specialist exam.
